Glass & basalt industry
Dietze+Schell develops machines for the glass and basalt industry to fill compact bobbins (direct roving) with material, or to produce voluminous spinning cakes. Dietze+Schell offers highly specialised machines for finishing glass and basalt fibres, e.g. to texturise (puff up) the fibres. This leads to high volumes with low density. The wallpaper industry uses such materials, as do manufacturers of roofing felt and other building materials.
The versatile glass and basalt fibres are also used to produce PCBs. The plastics industry also buys glass and basalt products for the purpose of product reinforcement. Wind turbine and boat hull manufacture is a typical application.
